Australian flag carrier Qantas has been fined a record US$59 million (A$90 million) for illegally firing and outsourcing over 1,800 ground workers during the COVID-19 Pandemic. This is the largest employer penalty in Australian corporate history and a big win for the workers and the Transport Workers’ Union (TWU), which represents them.
