Why Does Singapore Airlines Fly Between Manchester & Houston?

From a network development perspective, Singapore Airlines Flight 52 (and 51 in the return direction), is among the most bizarre flights you will find in the sky. The service, which is operated by an Airbus A350-900 twinjet, connects the carrier's hub at Singapore Changi Airport (SIN) with Houston's George Bush Intercontinental Airport (IAH), with an intermediate stop at Manchester Airport (MAN) in the United Kingdom.
