The Airbus A330neo offers a comprehensive upgrade over older A330s, providing not only new engines, but also new wings and other new systems. Previous generation Airbus A330 widebody aircraft shared a common wing with the Airbus A340 quadjet. The new A330neo wings offer improved overall performance and were inspired by the modern wings designed for the clean-sheet Airbus A350 airliner. Redesigning the wings was part of Airbus’ efforts to keep the Airbus A330 competitive against Boeing’s new 787 Dreamliner.
