How Many C-17 Globemasters Are Left?

The C-17 Globemaster III is a cornerstone of Western strategic airlift capability today. A total of 279 were produced, including prototypes. Only one has been lost in an accident, leaving around 275 examples active today. While some aircraft are parked for maintenance, none have been retired or scrapped save for the single example that was destroyed in a crash.
