The Airbus A340 is a popular widebody airliner that has been in service for over thirty years. It was originally conceived as a derivative of the popular Airbus A300 widebody, which was the first commercial airliner produced by Airbus. This series was produced by Airbus for twenty years, with nearly 400 total aircraft produced and delivered to airlines around the world. However, Airbus has since stopped making the Airbus A340, as it ceased production of the aircraft in 2012.
