The Airbus A380 Superjumbo was only built in a single variant, the A380-800. That aircraft is easily the largest commercial passenger aircraft in service today, but it was meant to be even larger. In fact, Airbus engineers designed the aircraft with the stretched A380-900 in mind as the primary aircraft. This design choice was part of the reason why the program failed, with only 251 examples delivered.
