Pittsburgh International Airport (PIT) was once one of America’s largest and most important hubs for transcontinental air passenger transport. Passengers flew from destinations across the country to the city and connected through it, with multiple important carriers operating a hub at the facility. However, over the past few decades, Pittsburgh Airport, much like the large city it serves, has been in somewhat of a state of decline. Airlines have closed their major hubs at the facility, while others have pulled back expansion efforts.
