The Australian domestic airline market experienced a major upheaval in 2024, first with the collapse of low-cost carrier Bonza and later with the closure of mainline services by independent airline Rex. Rex is still struggling through financial administration to save its traditional regional operations, but the market has reverted to a split between the Qantas Group and Virgin Australia.
