Bombardier Aviation is one of the largest private jet manufacturers in the world. The company, which is a business segment of Bombardier, was first incorporated in 1989, over 36 years ago. The company began after Bombardier acquired Canadair, which was responsible for the development of the Canadair Regional Jet (CRJ). Later in the 1980s, Bombardier acquired Learjet, Short Brothers Aircraft Manufacturing Company, and de Havilland Aircraft of Canada. Because of this, Bombardier created a new business segment focused on the production of regional jets and aircraft in the private aviation industry.
