With around a 6% domestic market share, Alaska Airlines is the fifth-largest airline in the United States. Importantly, Alaska is in the process of taking over Hawaiian Airlines, which will give an even larger share. Like Southwest, Alaska Airlines operates a Boeing 737-family-centered fleet, although it also operates a fleet of Embraer E170 regional jets. Alaska’s fleet is set to diversify with the acquisition of Hawaiian Airlines.
