Aviation travel has steadily increased over the last century, including commercial, private, and regional air travel. Specifically, after the COVID-19 pandemic ended, regional air travel has increased significantly. Currently, regional air travel, which is defined as the transportation of people and cargo between 150 km (94 miles) and 800 km (498 miles), only occupies about 5% of global air traffic. However, according to a report from McKinsey, the company predicts that short-haul flying will account for approximately 13% of global air traffic by 2035.
