As with many things, the answer to the question varies with the size of the aircraft, what type of livery the aircraft is receiving, and various other factors. Airlines occasionally repaint their aircraft in special livery to mark an occasion. Sometimes, airlines fully change their aircraft’s livery and need to repaint their entire fleets. This is currently being done by Korean Air with its new livery.
