It has been just over nine years since the Airbus A350 entered commercial service with Qatar Airways. The aircraft was initially designed to be a development of the A330, but Airbus settled for a clean sheet design. It became the manufacturer's first aircraft constructed mainly from carbon fiber reinforced polymer.
