In Europe, the vast majority of airports discussed extensively are large, major international gateways, like Barcelona’s El Prat Airport (BCN) and Madrid’s Barajas Airport (MAD). However, less attention is paid to smaller facilities that serve as more regional gateways. With more and more passengers each year traveling to secondary destinations, flights to smaller markets have increasingly become a bigger business for airlines.
