In April, the world will haveabout 8,000 daily round-trip widebody flights. Cirium Diio data shows they have risen by 3% compared to last April but are down by 5% compared to before the pandemic in April 2019. Just over half of the services will be long-haul, showing how such aircraft remain critical domestically (especially in China, Japan, and the US) and regionally (particularly within Asia and the Middle East). Tokyo Haneda remains the world’s leading widebody airport thanks to short-haul, high-frequency, and high-capacity services.
