The Boeing 777-200LR ('long range') is a vanishingly rare variant, although it was designed to be niche – as it has always been. It trades high weight to carry more fuel for the ultra-long non-stop services for which it was designed with a lower payload. It is less economic than newer aircraft, partly offset by having lower ownership costs.
