Victoria’s crime rate has risen to its highest level since 2016, according to the latest crime statistics.
The Crime Statistics Agency (CSA) released its figures for the 12 months to December 31, 2024, showing the overall rate of recorded offences increased by 13.2 per cent.
The biggest increase was in property and deception offences, which rose by 21.9 per cent in 2024.
CSA chief statistician Fiona Dowsley said the record figures were being driven by thefts.
