Shrinking Under Sanctions? The Aeroflot Fleet In 2024

It has now been over two years since Russia launched its full-scale invasion of Ukraine, drastically altering the international geopolitical landscape. The nation's flag carrier, Aeroflot, has had to deal with the consequences of this military campaign, including the imposition of sanctions and airspace bans. Since our last deep dive into the Aeroflot fleet in February 2023, a few changes have taken place, including the removal of several airframes. There were 173 aircraft listed as part of Aeroflot this time last year, but that number is now down to 168.
