Defence has confirmed that 2nd Commando Regiment soldier Lance Corporal Jack Fitzgibbon, son of former defence minister Joel Fitzgibbon, died following injuries sustained during a parachuting incident on 6 March.
The space agency said returning Sunita “Suni” Williams and Barry “Butch” Wilmore onboard Starliner was too risky as engineers still hadn’t fully deduced what went wrong with its thrusters.
The runway will be lengthened to allow larger aircraft, including Virgin Australia’s existing 737-800 service to Perth, to operate at full capacity. Currently, the 737 is limited to 146 passengers during the wet season and 158 during the dry season.
