The officials at the Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport (MSY) have indicated that the airport has been slowly sinking since it was built more than 60 years ago. In the last five alone, New Orleans taxpayers have paid more than half a million dollars to address issues related to pavement crackings, flooding, and water puddles across the tarmac. Satellite radar data has shown ground movements are occurring at a rate of a few millimeters each year. The money already spent on repairs has certainly not fixed the problem. The airport continues to sink.
