The Boeing 747 program has given us icons of the skies like the earlier 747-100 and 747-200 models, as well as the best-selling 747-400. Having first announced plans to develop a new member of the 747 family in 2005, Boeing introduced the 747-8 in 2011, with the cargo version of the plane debuting before the passenger variant, the 747-8i, entering service the following year.
