How Southwest Airlines Became The World’s Largest Low-Cost Carrier

There are no other airlines in the United States like Southwest Airlines. Matter of fact, there are relatively few carriers that have achieved the level of success that Southwest has seen operating a low-cost model, and even fewer that have done so while facing the heavily competitive environment created by legacy carriers in the United States. In the United States, Southwest Airlines has to compete against three massive legacy carriers for passenger traffic, alongside a handful of smaller low-cost carriers.
