The F-35 Lightning II is the world’s most advanced and capable fighter jet and has now been ordered by almost all eligible countries that could realistically operate a fifth-generation combat wing. Over 1,100 F-35s have now been delivered, meaning that there are more F-35s than all other fifth-generation fighter jets (J-20s, J-35s, Su-57, F-22s) combined. More countries would like to purchase the fighter jet, but these have been blocked by the United States. Now with the second Trump term, it is possible the United States may agree to sell it to more countries.

US President Donald Trump toured a 13-year-old Boeing 747-8 on February 15th, 2025. With Boeing’s current projections, Trump would not get to fly onboard the jet as president as the VC-25Bs are due after the end of his term.
