Why The Royal Air Force Relies Heavily On The Airbus A400 Atlas

When compared to the United States Air Force, the Royal Air Force operates a significantly smaller fleet of tactical and strategic airlifters, cargo planes that perform the important task of helping move military personnel and assets to the locations where they are most needed. This fleet includes 32 aircraft, eight of which are Boeing C-17 Globemaster III large strategic cargo jets, while two are smaller French-built Dassault Envoy IV series planes. The remainder of the organization’s tactical airlift fleet consists of 22 European-built Airbus A400M Atlas aircraft, which form the backbone of the Royal Air Force’s airlift capabilities.
