The Spanish Air and Space Force has ordered another batch of 25 Eurofighter Typhoon jets to replace its aging fleet of F/A-18 Hornets. But why did Spain select Eurofighters over the F-35 Lightning II—or is it? Spain is perhaps the most obvious country that has yet to purchase the American F-35 fighter jet (France and Sweden are squarely focused on their indigenous Rafale and Gripen fighter jets). Most able European air forces are purchasing the F-35.
