The United States Marine Corps is the world’s second-largest operator of the F-35 Lightning II fighter jet (after the United States Air Force). While the US Navy has upgraded its F/A-18 Hornets to F/A-18 Super Hornets, the Marines are looking to replace their legacy Hornets with the F-35B and smaller numbers of F-35Cs. The new F-35s are also replacing the remaining McDonnell Douglas (now Boeing) AV-8B Harrier II jump jets. The F-35 has experienced many production delays, so will the Marines receive the F-35s they need to replace their legacy fighter jets in time?
