Air connections are the lifeblood of island communities in the South Pacific, both for bringing in the overseas tourists that drive economies and for the inter-island connections that link communities. This is particularly so for Fiji, which relies on tourism for around 40% of its gross domestic product and comprises more than 300 islands, with over 100 permanently inhabited.
