Qantas Group released a statement on Wednesday morning, after Rex entered administration and dropped its jet operations, calling it a “challenging day for our industry”. Customers will have until 31 August to contact Qantas or Jetstar to rebook.
Speaking to media in Hobart, the minister said the government has been “working pretty closely” with administrator EY Australia, and remains ready to step in and potentially buy Rex to preserve its vital services if EY cannot make a commercial sale.
An ATSB investigation concluded that crew onboard the aircraft noticed a fuel imbalance but misdiagnosed the cause of the problem.
