The General Electric GE90 turbofan engine was launched in 1990 to power the Boeing 777 family aircraft. It was GE Aerospace’s first engine to feature thrusts in the 100,000 pounds-force (lbf) range, allowing the Boeing 777 aircraft to carry over 400 passengers and travel long distances efficiently and reliably.
