Victorian Treasurer Tim Pallas is expected to announce he is quitting politics today

Victorian Treasurer Tim Pallas is expected to announce he is quitting politics today, leaving behind a state shouldering billions in debt.

Pallas has served in Victorian Parliament for 18 years, the past 10 of those as state treasurer initially under Daniel Andrews, before Jacinta Allan took over as Premier last year. Pallas’ replacement as treasurer was not immediately apparent.

It also remains unconfirmed when Pallas will vacate his seat, although a by-election for his incumbent seat of Werribee now seems likely. More to come.

  1. Tim Pallas has just announced he will be setting up a joint 50-year long term public private partnership (NOT privatising) for the role of Treasurer of Victoria.

  2. He has left a big legacy of important rail projects but sadly he also signed off on polluting road projects the city did not need. There exists not a single justification for the transurban takeover other than Westgate freeway we call Westgate tunnel. Not even a tunnel a disgrace.
