A few years ago, the Kazakhstan Air Force was almost exclusively made up of Soviet or Russian-origin military aircraft. However, it is planning to diversify its military aircraft – at least in a way that will not anger Russia. Kazakhstan is currently taking delivery of military aircraft from Russia, European countries, and China. Kazakhstan is purchasing Su-30s and helicopters from Russia while also purchasing helicopters from Europe and transport aircraft from China and Europe. The Kazakhstan Air Force may be minuscule compared to the Russian Air Force, but it is still one of the most capable in Central Asia.
