Melbourne Storm scraps regular Welcome to Country ceremonies

One of Australia’s most respected sporting clubs will no longer hold regular Welcome to Country ceremonies, with the Melbourne Storm ditching the “divisive” tradition.

This is really good news and a much needed step in the right direction for removal of divisive and harmful rhetoric undertaken for profit and political purposes. Those companies and sporting organisations who continue to support the spread of misinformation through these commercially based ceremonies should take a long hard look at themselves.

Two come to mind immediately, Cricket Australia and our under performing woke captain and Woolworths.

We only have to look at at the shocking incident of racist rant in Queensland recently.

We can only hope the biggest Sporting Company in Australia the AFL will follow suit and give the audiences and supporters relief from this madness. The supporters have had enough. Enough is Enough.

  1. Finally some relief from the awful welcome to country rubbish every game. Has before e a laughing stock ceremony with lies about where it came from and what its purpose was or is. A money making scam.

  2. Did we really need the welcome to my own country at the MCG for the Boxing Day test? One could see the crowd was not interested and the meaning has been so diluted.
