Lao Telecom expands 5G service to Savannakhet

Shareholders in South African service provider Telkom will soon vote on a plan to sell the group’s towers and masts to a consortium led by private equity firm Actis.

Malaysian telco U Mobile is reportedly set to deploy between 5,000 and 7,000 5G sites across the country as it prepares to take on the role of the country’s second 5G operator, and is likely to collaborate with other telcos in the process.

The long-rumoured merger of Indonesian telcos XL Axiata and Smartfren moved another step closer to reality on Wednesday as parent companies Axiata Group and Sinar Mas announced they have officially signed an MoU to explore the proposed merger.
