According to Turkish National Defense Minister Yasar Gular, the US may reconsider its decision to expel Turkey from the fifth-generation F-35 fighter jet program. The United States expelled Turkey from the program in 2019 after it purchased Russian S-400 SAMs. After taking delivery of these batteries, Turkey only switched them on once to ensure they worked and then placed them in storage as it worked out how to move forward with its damaged relations with the United States. The United States is very selective about who it sells its prized F-35 fighter jet to and has declined at least half a dozen countries from purchasing it.
