The US Army has selected drone technology company Red Cat to produce its next-generation small unmanned aerial systems (sUAS) as part of its Short Range Reconnaissance (SRR) Program of Record. With drones playing an increasingly prominent role on the modern battlefield and their capacity to be produced (and lost) in number at low costs, the US is eager to establish an industrial base for large-scale production of advanced systems.
