One of the many C-130 Hercules variants is the HC-130J Combat King II (which is the only dedicated fixed-wing Personnel Recovery platform in United States Air Force inventory). Additionally, the Coast Guard operates a similar HC-130J variant. The C-130 Hercules was built as an Air Force tactical airlifter, and today, it is a logistical workhorse of the United States military. The Hercules has seen many adaptations and variations, from electronic warfare (as with the EC-130 Compass Call) to gunships (as with the AC-130 Ghostrider).
