Skytrans will fly Dash 8 Q200s from Sydney to Lord Howe starting in February 2026 as QantasLink phases out its own Q200s, the only aircraft in the Qantas fleet capable of landing on the island’s short runway.
The Flying Kangaroo pointed to new data that showed it was outperforming Virgin despite its on-time departures remaining far below the long-term average.
The carrier will use Wellington Airport as its home base for the ALIA, which it expects to receive starting late next year. It will initially fly cargo services with NZ Post from Wellington to Marlborough Airport on the other side of the Cook Strait.
