The US Navy has revealed the new designation for the E-6B Mercury’s replacement will be ‘E-130J.’ A procurement contract for the aircraft – a variant of Lockheed Martin’s C-130J Super Hercules military transport that will take over “Take Charge and Move Out” (TACAMO) duties from the E-6B – is scheduled for early next year.
