Air traffic controllers are unequivocally essential to ensuring the aviation industry operates safely and efficiently. Much of the business was severely impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic, but as over four years have passed, nearly all components have bounced back, including progress in the long-endured pilot shortage. The same can not be said for the ATC shortage, however. Stemming from retirements and the impact the pandemic left on training new personnel, the industry has quite literally been interrupted by the lack of ATC workers.
