A significant milestone has passed in the proposed merger of US carriers Alaska Airlines and Hawaiian Airlines, with news that the time period for the US Department of Justice (DOJ) to complete its regulatory investigation has expired. While considerable work is yet to be done to close the deal, this is seen as a major stepping stone on the way to bringing the two airlines together.
