Brussels Airlines will not fly between its namesake city and Birmingham this summer, with the freed-up equipment to be used on more demanded and profitable summer sun routes. It follows Aegean ending its flights to the West Midlands airport and Wizz Air cutting four routes. However, these changes have been more than offset by easyJet's new base and the arrival of Pegasus and Saudia in 2023.

On April 3rd, Emirates reintroduced another Airbus A380 to service. The specific airframe was A6-EDF, which is about 19 years old and nearly double the average age of the carrier’s superjumbos. Its return to service saw an initial round-trip service between Dubai and Cairo. While it was the seventh A380 ever to be built, it was the sixth A380 delivered to the Gulf carrier; those that arrived sooner have since been retired or stored.
