It is now more than 50 years since the crash of Eastern Air Lines Flight 401, which crashed into the Florida Everglades in December 1972. The aircraft was a Lockheed L-1011-1 TriStar traveling from New York (JFK) to Miami (MIA).
The victim was an employee of China Aircraft Services, which has offered ground handling services at Hong Kong International Airport since 1994.
Preliminary investigation indicated the presence of a bomb onboard.
The NTSB’s preliminary report did not provide any details on how the aircraft lost both engines shortly before landing on an interstate road.
