Delta Air Lines removed one of its Boeing 757-300s from service after reportedly being damaged by a lightning strike on Tuesday. The aircraft was on its descent to Hartsfield–Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL) when it was struck.

As everyone knows, northern airlines generally make more money in the summer, as that’s when demand and fares are usually at their highest. Between June and August 2026, an average of 19 daily transatlantic passenger Boeing 757 flights are planned, all of which are, of course, to Europe. The type’s activity has been reduced from 21 daily flights in the same three months last year but Delta Air Lines, Icelandair, La Compagnie, and United Airlines will all have transatlantic 757 services this summer.
