Russia Slashes Airliner Engine Production As Domestic Airliner Production Flounders

As it becomes ever clearer Russia’s plan to produce 1,000 aircraft by 2030 is a pipedream, it has slashed production of aircraft engines.

After almost three years, no Russian passenger jets have been delivered as the civil sector competes with the military sector for resources.

Unable to buy new passenger jets internationally, Russia is forced to build its own domestic jets and keep its existing fleet in service for longer.

Syrianair plans to increase its network size but is limited as a result of international sanctions which have also severely impacted its fleet.

The home-grown aircraft continues to be plagued by international sanctions against Russia.
