Premier Jacinta Allan has brushed off disastrous poll results and insisted her government remains committed to the contentious Suburban Rail Loop project.
Questioned about the status of funding decisions for the two Victorian mega-projects, federal treasurer Jim Chalmers said the government considered them as separate.
With voter collapse for the Federal ALP now happening in Victoria I would expect there to be a major funding push by Chalmers and Albanese to fund the Suburban Rail Loop.
A major chunk of the state’s debt comes via Victoria’s infrastructure program, including road projects the $10.2 billion West Gate Tunnel and the $26 billion North East Link, and rail projects the $15.6 billion Melbourne Metro.
Jacinta Allan has revealed the reason she is “really grateful” for a petition the federal opposition has launched about Melbourne’s Suburban Rail Loop project.
