The Gotthard Base Tunnel has carried 276,000 freight trains and 169,000 passenger trains since opening, strengthening Switzerland’s north–south rail axis.
To travel to Richmond Station, passengers can interchange between the Metro Tunnel and City Loop through connected stations or by transferring at Caulfield.
The project, jointly funded by the Australian and Queensland governments on a 50-50 basis, aims to address transport needs in one of Australia’s fastest-growing areas.
