The Queensland grants come after the federal government has so far poured more than $17 million into regional airports across NSW, Victoria and Western Australia, also as part of the fourth round of the Regional Airports Program.

Nine regional airports in Victoria will receive a total of around $4.5 million, while four WA airports will receive around $800,000, as part of the Round 4 of the government’s Regional Airports Program.

Across Australia, a combination of cost-of-living pressures and a reduction in business travel has led to domestic travel stagnating in the last few years.
