FAA Proposes Wing Assembly Checks Of Some Airbus A320-Family Planes After EASA AD

In November 2024, the FAA deemed that no immediate safety action was warranted following two cabin smoke events involving Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft.

The Boeing 737-900ER is scheduled to depart toward Salt Lake City International Airport (SLC) on April 15.

At least an additional 164 Boeing 737 NG and 737 MAX aircraft could be affected by the proposed AD.

According to the FAA’s estimates, the final rule directive would affect over 2,600 Boeing 737 Next Generation (NG) and 737 MAX aircraft in the US.

The FAA stated that recent notable safety events prompted the safety alert for airlines and operators.

The proposed directive is based on a Boeing document that the company issued to operators in August 2024.

Sean Duffy made his comments in response to one Representative’s statement that cuts at the FAA had weakened the safety of air travel.
