When we reported in February of this year that US President Donald Trump was touring a privately-owned Boeing 747-8, we somewhat thought this was just a publicity stunt to highlight that he wanted Boeing to move faster on the two VC-25Bs undergoing work to become the new pair of Air Force Ones. However, it does indeed seem like the government is moving to modify this other aircraft to be the new presidential transport! It even seems like a contractor has been tagged to do the work! President Trump Holds 747 Tour To Signal He Wants Air Force One Sooner

US President Donald Trump toured a 13-year-old Boeing 747-8 on February 15th, 2025. As the newly re-elected president, he is pushing to replace the current pair of VC-25As with newer models ahead of their extensively delayed delivery schedule. With Boeing’s current projections, Trump would not get to fly onboard the jet as president as the VC-25Bs are due after the end of his term.
