After extensive speculation, it has now been confirmed that a lavish former Qatari Boeing 747-8i airframe will serve as a temporary presidential transport aircraft while Boeing’s purpose-built next-generation Air Force One jets remain years behind schedule. The Air Force notes that the aircraft, described as the VC-25B Bridge Aircraft, has entered flight testing. After passing these tests, the aircraft will be eligible to serve as a presidential jet.
